objectivity

There is no such thing as objectivity.  Maybe in some purist scientific sense, but not in the ordinary human experience.  Everything is subjective.  The music I love others can't stand, the music others can't stand I may love.  Same for books, art, other people.

Words are subjective.  At least in interpretation.  Words also have a spectrum of meaning that varies depending on who is speaking or writing them and who is receiving them.

I am amazed that people can talk to each other and be correctly understood.  It does happen, but I think less often than people think it does.

Atheist Thoughts

I wish I wasn't an atheist.  But I am.  I can't help it.  I guess what I mean is that I wish atheists had a church.  Because church is community and I like the idea of community.  I'd like a place to go where like minded folk could gather.  Wouldn't have to talk atheist talk, probably would rather not.  Even people who were religious could join if they didn't preach and respected atheism.  In this community (I have gone from church to community)  people would gather and care about each other and the world at large.  A physical place to meet would be fine, a designated person to lead and to give a "sermon" would be interesting the "congregation" could take turns.  If this were international, one could visit any city and see if they had an atheist church, a place to meet people and be accepted.

Maybe this already exists.  If you know of such a movement please let me know.
